The hotly anticipated sequel to one of 2016’s biggest surprises is finally upon us, and fans of the first game will be pleased to hear that Layers of Fear 2 is coming to multiple platforms. But not, unfortunately, owners of Nintendo hardware, who will have to wait a bit longer to get their hands on one of 2019’s spookiest games. Here’s what we know about what the Layers of Fear 2 Nintendo Switch release date is.
Layers of Fear 2 Nintendo Switch Release Date
The first thing we’ll establish right off the bat is that there is no confirmed launch date for Nintendo Switch. In fact, there’s not even a confirmed release of the game on Switch at all, as of yet.
Just as was the case with the first game, Layers of Fear 2 released worldwide on PS4, Xbox One, and PC platforms.
That wouldn’t be so surprising if only for the fact that A) the original game launched as a Definitive Edition on Nintendo Switch last year, and B) the Switch’s commercial success has seen it become a favorite amongst indie developers in recent years.
So what gives? There’s not much to go on, really.
In an interview back in April, Ronnie Hobbs, creative director at Gun Media, the publishers behind the game said the “official statement is no Switch at launch,” when asked about a potential Switch port of the game.
As for the why, it’s hard to make sense of. Perhaps they’re simply waiting to see what the critical and commercial reception of the game is during its launch window before deciding whether to invest the time and money into a Switch port.
Still, given that the original launched on Nintendo hardware we’d be surprised if the sequel didn’t. It may just be that the Switch port is taking longer to develop, or wasn’t an immediate priority.
Either way, we’ll be sure to keep you posted on the matter as soon as we hear anything.
