Developed by FromSoftware, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice features a few different endings, all with their own set of complex requirements. Here’s how to get the Sweet Rice Ball in Sekiro, and what to do with it.

Do be warned that we’re about to spoil some of the steps required for one of the endings in the game, so look away if you want to go in completely blind.

Getting Rice from the Divine Child

First things first, you need to have beaten Genichiro in Ashina Castle. After that, you’ll be able to head on to Senpou Temple and defeat the Folding Screen Monkeys. This will unlock the Inner Sanctum area, where you can start asking the Divine Child for some rice, which is your first step towards getting the Sweet Rice Ball.

At this point, what you want to do is keep eating the rice and keep asking the Divine Child for more. Do this until she starts falling asleep and getting sick.

Now, you’ll want to get some persimmons from the Memorial Mob vendor near the Shugendo Sculptor’s Idol in Sekiro. Go back to the Divine Child and give her the persimmon, and she’ll give you a key item called Rice for Kuro. This is what you need for the Sweet Rice Ball.

Using the Sweet Rice Ball in Sekiro

Now, head back to Kuro’s Room and give him the special rice. Rest at the nearby Sculptor’s Idol to pass time, then talk to Kuro to get the Sweet Rice Ball.

Consuming this item will allow you to regain health and Posture for a time. You can also eat it in front of Kuro to get some additional dialogue and lore. Either way, obtaining this item is one of the steps you’ll need if you’re going for the Return ending in Sekiro.

It’s important to note that you need to obtain the Rice Ball from Kuro before fighting the true Corrupted Monk near the final areas of the game for this ending.

That’s all you need to know about how to get and use the Sweet Rice Ball in Sekiro. Be sure to check our Sekiro guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
