How to Get the Ceremonial Tanto in Sekiro

Developed by FromSoftware, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice features an in-depth combat system with plenty of tools you can use to give yourself an edge in a fight. Here’s how to get the Ceremonial Tanto in Sekiro.

If you’ve played Bloodborne, you’re likely familiar with the blood bullets mechanic, which allows you to take a bit of a hit to your health in exchange for five extra bullets you can use with your gun. The Ceremonial Tanto in Sekiro works in a similar way.

Where to Get the Ceremonial Tanto

This item can only be obtained after you’ve defeated Gyoubu, and have access to Ashina Reservoir. Stick to the left and head for the underground well, where you first began the game.

Get past the Lone Shadow mini-boss and go straight ahead to reach the Abandoned Dungeon. Here, you’ll find a pit with the Shichimen Warrior mini-boss. Defeat him, and you’ll be rewarded with the Ceremonial Tanto.

Beating the Shichimen Warrior in Sekiro

The Shichimen Warrior mini-boss isn’t as bad as the Headless, but he can still be pretty annoying with his homing terror orbs.

You’ll definitely need some Divine Confetti to deal proper damage to this boss, and we recommend bringing some Pacifying Agents to keep your terror build-up down as well.

His move set isn’t terribly difficult to read, and the terror build-up is the only thing you need to be worried about.

How to Use the Ceremonial Tanto

After defeating the mini-boss, you’ll get the Ceremonial Tanto, which can be equipped as a quick item.

Use it by pressing up on the d-pad, and you’ll lose a portion of your HP in exchange for five Spirit Emblems. Do note that the five Spirit Emblems will go away if you rest at a Sculptor’s Idol.

The Ceremonial Tanto can only be used three times, which means you can get a total of 15 Spirit Emblems in one go. Once you’ve used up all three charges, you’ll need to rest at a Sculptor’s Idol to recharge it yet again.

That’s all you need to know about how to get the Ceremonial Tanto in Sekiro. Be sure to check our Sekiro guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
