With The Division 2, players will get to explore a new open world in Washington DC, while also hunting down bad guys and getting some sweet loot in the process. Here’s what you need to know about how to get Printer Filament in The Division 2.

Printer Filament is a type of resource or crafting material you can get in the game. However, it’s a purple item, which means it’s going to be much harder to obtain than your regular Ceramics or Steel.

Unlike most other common resources in The Division 2, Printer Filament can’t simply be found by looting chests or boxes you find in the open world. From what we’ve seen so far, there’s only one way to get it.

Deconstructing Mods

As soon as you unlock the modding function for your equipment in The Division 2, you’ll be able to start gathering Printer Filament. You should be able to start modding your equipment once you’re around level 9 or 10.

From here, all you have to do is dismantle your unwanted or low-level mods for a chance of obtaining a piece of Printer Filament. Simply go to your inventory, then hold the R3 button to deconstruct an item while it’s selected.

To make things a little easier on yourself, you can also unlock the Deconstruct 2 perk from the Quartermaster at the Base of Operations. This will increase your chances of getting a rare drop whenever you dismantle an item.

It’s worth noting that you can also dismantle modded weapons in The Division 2 to get Printer Filament. If you happen to find a weapon drop that comes with mods, you can also remove the mod itself and dismantle it for a chance at the drop.

That’s all you need to know about how to get Printer Filament in The Division 2. Be sure to check our Division 2 guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
