The big win for the Water-type Pokémon comes 24 hours after the poll opened. Sobble beat the Fire-type starter, Scorbunny, by just 1% of a total of 212,740 poll voters.

As fans of the series know by now, the Pokémon that you select as a starter has a significant impact on your experience early into the game. For example, selecting a Pokémon with a weakness to the first Gym Leader’s primary type could set you up for a struggle ahead.

Starter Pokémon typically develop a cult following with the fanbase, and there’s no reason to believe that Generation 8 will be any different. We recently covered some of the crazy Twitter reactions to the Galar starters, and it’s safe to say that the fanaticism has already started.
