Today, during the airing of the Persona 5: The Animation special titled “Dark Sun” in Japan, Atlus and Aniplex announced a second special episode.

The new episode will be titled “Stars and Ours” and is likely to complete the story after today’s special left everyone hanging exactly where those who played Persona 5 would expect. It will air in March 2019 with no precise day announced.

Considering that the reveal of the game codenamed “Persona 5 R” or “P5R” is also coming in March, it’s pretty safe to assume that the anime special will be followed by the reveal. This might possibly give us more precise insight on the platforms since today’s tease included only a PlayStation logo and no specific information. Of course, we don’t know anything about the release window either.

If you’re unfamiliar with Persona 5: The Animation, it’s a 26-episode anime series aired since April 2018. While it’s fairly enjoyable, many criticized it for not matching the same level of storytelling featured in the original game.

Below you can see the trailer. Since the original upload is geoblocked outside of Japan, we have a reupload by YouTube user Kozoukom.

We recently learned that Persona 5 protagonist Joker will also make an appearance in Nintendo’s critically acclaimed Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and even in Atlus’ own Catherine: Full Body.

If you don’t care for waiting for P5R, the original game is currently available for PS4 and PS3. To know why it’s so good, you can read our review.
