Dragon Quest XI: How to Get More Pep Powers

How to Get More Pep Powers in Dragon Quest XI

Recommended Videos

Dragon Quest XI is the first mainline entry we’ve gotten from the series in eight years, with the last game being Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies on DS. Things have changed quite a bit since then, of course, and Dragon Quest XI brings a host of new features and mechanics to the series. You play as the Luminary, a chosen hero who will fight off the darkness, who has to travel the world of Erdrea building a party and uncovering secrets. Dragon Quest XI has a mechanic known as Pep that functions similarly to the Tension system from Dragon Quest VIII or the Coup de Grace system from IX. Here’s how to get more Pep Powers in Dragon Quest XI.

At times during battle, your characters will experience a surge of emotion and power that puts them in a pepped up state (noted by a blue aura), and if multiple party members are pepped up, you can use powerful abilities known as Pep Powers.

There’s a wide array of Pep Powers in Dragon Quest XI, and it’s pretty easy to unlock more. You’ll simply learn more powers as you learn more abilities. Sometimes characters will automatically learn spells as they level up, which can lead to new Pep Powers.

At other times when you unlock specific skills on a character’s skill grids, this can lead to new Pep Powers as well. Of course, also getting new party members means you’ll have a selection of new powers to choose from. This means all you need to do is keep leveling up your party and learning new skills, and you’ll be getting new Pep Powers in no time.
