How to Save in Octopath Traveler

Recommended Videos

In Octopath Traveler, you play as eight different characters who all have unique storylines and abilities for you to use. Square Enix has gone out of their way this time around to draw nostalgia from classic Japanese RPGs like Secret of Mana or the early Final Fantasy’s, while also bringing the world to life with some modern touches, voice acting, and a musical score that’ll blast you to the past.

Instead of opting in for realistic graphics on the Nintendo Switch, Square Enix is instead going for a pixelated art style that looks glorious on the hybrid console. Being that there are eight distinct characters to play as there will be a lot of progress to be made, and a lot to be lost if you’re not taking precaution, which is why saving your game in Octopath Traveler is of the utmost importance.

In order to save in Octopath Traveler, be on the lookout for white feather icons in the world. Once you find that feather, just press the A button on your controller and your sweet sweet progress that you have made will be saved. The save points are usually found at the start and end of a dungeon, directly outside a town, or inside towns. They’re not too hard to miss, so just keep an eye out for them, especially before a big boss fight or a dangerous dungeon.

That’s all you need to know about saving your progress in Octopath Traveler, for more help, tips, and tricks, be sure to check out our comprehensive wiki.

There is a free demo out now on the Nintendo Switch that allows you to play through the introduction as any character, though it will only take you a few hours to beat. You will be able to transfer your save data to the full game though, once it launches.
