NieR: Automata Trailer Is All About Elegant Destruction and the Flow of Combat

Fast, flashy, and brutal.

NieR: Automata is the collaboration between Square Enix and Platinum Games, the latter, of course, being known for their exceptional combat systems. A new trailer released for Automata shows off just that, the elegant destruction and combat of the new title. You can take a look at the fast-paced trailer down below.

NieR: Automata gives you a few different options in combat, combining your dodging ability with that of close range weapons. As you dart around the battlefield you can use four types of weapons to destroy your enemies; small swords, large swords, spears, and combat bracers. In addition you have a “Pod” ranged support system that lets you hit enemies with bullet-like projectiles. You can unlock new skills and upgrades for each weapon, as well as the Pod system. Automata’s combat definitely looks like it has Platinum’s trademark style, as it’s fast, flashy, and incredibly destructive.

NieR: Automata launches on March 7 for PS4. A PC release has also been announced for 2017, but doesn’t have a release date as of yet. While you’re at it, take a look at a new, and fairly bloody, TV spot released for Automota in Japan. You can also check out the exclusive pre-order T-shirt for the game, which was announced by the game’s director Yoko Taro in a… unique way.

What do you think of Automata’s combat compared to the original NieR and other Platinum games? Let us know down in the comments below.
