Nintendo opened their E3 festivities today, with a brand new look at the upcoming Legend of Zelda for Wii U and Nintendo NX. The game even received an official title and will be called, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

The three minute trailer gives us a look at a different kind of Zelda game, one that sees Link traveling around the world and exploring, cutting down trees, cooking, wearing armor and using an item to conjure objects out of thin air. The game looks absolutely gorgeous with its almost painterly art style, and we see link exploring different climates including flowing plains, snowy mountains and desert canyons all of which is teeming with wildlife. At the beginning of the trailer we also hear a voice saying, “Open your eyes.” Make sure to watch the full trailer down below.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is set for release sometime in 2017, on both Wii U and the forthcoming Nintendo NX. The game is actually playable this week at the Nintendo World Store in New York. During today’s Treehouse event, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime said more details on the story and characters of the new game would be coming soon.

What do you think of Breath of the Wild’s gameplay trailer? Do you like the new direction Zelda is taking, or are you hesitant of the jump to an open world for the series? Leave a comment and let us know. Make sure to stay tuned to Twinfinite for more on E3.
