Xbox One users have been without the Spotify app for some time, while PlayStation 4 users have been able to live it up with the music streaming service for quite some time. Previously, fans had inquired as to whether the Xbox One would indeed be receiving the app on the console, and the answer was a noncommittal “not at this time.” However, it seems now that fans have noticed that Major Nelson himself, Larry Hryb, has been testing the app and it appears there’s even a Spotify product page that’s gone live.
Looks like the cat’s out of the bag, with sites like The Verge reporting on the app’s existence, and the product page giving us our most concrete confirmation thus far. The Spotify app will let you do all the things the PlayStation 4 version will of course. You can listen to music while in-game, search through your favorite artist and playlists, and even use a mobile device to cycle through songs if you don’t want to hop out of the game you’re playing.
Of course, this doesn’t give us a date or a time when we might expect to see the app drop, but Spotify fans rocking Xbox One should rejoice at one more feature that places them on equal ground with everything PlayStation 4 has. And speaking as someone who’s used the Spotify app on PlayStation 4 several times over, it’s awesome.
