Near the end of Microsoft’s conference, we finally received an official trailer to 2009’s hit RTS Halo Wars. In this new title, we find our UNSC crew awoken over an ancient alien construct dubbed the Arc. However, they are not alone as a new Covenant faction dubbed “The Banished” are waiting for you and are led by their ruthless Brute leader Atriox. This faction is made up of not just Brutes, but all of the previous races involved in the Covenant such as Elites. There is no word if this game takes place after the events of Halo 3, but since the original was set 20 years prior it’s doubtful we will see any Prometheans join the fray.
While details are still scarce, Microsoft has released a week long Beta starting today that allows players to get a taste of Halo Wars 2. The beta will last from June 13th to June 20th and is only available on Xbox One. In the Beta trailer, we can see that the graphics have been seriously stepped up and all of the classic Halo vehicles are available once again. Creative Assembly claims that this will be the “…biggest Halo battlefield ever.”
Halo Wars 2 will release February 21st, 2017.
