Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End was released back in May of 2016 and has been critically acclaimed for its action packed gameplay, gorgeous graphics, deep characters, and robust multiplayer. As the closing chapter in Nathan Drake’s story the game was highly anticipated by gamers and it has been confirmed that, not only was the game critically well received, but has also had very strong sales.
As IGN reports, Uncharted 4 sold over 8.7 million copies in 2016 alone. Regardless of how well it continues to sell in 2017, that’s a very impressive number to reach in only nine months. The game is now officially the fastest-selling first party PlayStation game to-date. The second best-selling first party PS4 game at the time of writing is Killzone: Shadow Fall which has sold 2.1 million copies since it was released in 2013.
No doubt Uncharted 4 will continue to see good sales figures over the course of 2017 as its great reviews will attract new PS4 owners. A stand alone DLC for the Uncharted series is set to be released in the future called Uncharted: Lost Legacy and is a single player campaign that will see players take the role of Chloe as she teams up with Uncharted 4’s Nadine Ross to uncover the lost Tusk of Gannesh deep within India’s Western Ghats. If the quality of Lost Legacy lives up to Uncharted 4, then it will no doubt tempt new players into checking out the main game.
We look forward to seeing just how well Uncharted 4 has sold by the end of 2017.
