How to Active Reload in Star Wars Battlefront 2

Recommended Videos

Star Wars Battlefront 2 puts you right in the middle of some massive battles from across the series. As this is a Star Wars game, guns and ammo work a little differently than other shooters. The biggest difference, of course, is that there actually isn’t any ammo in the game. Instead, everything has a cooldown, from your guns to your abilities. Star Wars Battlefront 2 has taken a cue from other shooters, however, by implementing a type of active reload system.

As you fire your gun in Star Wars Battlefront 2, heat builds up in a red bar on your screen. Once full, your gun will become overheated and you won’t be able to use it for about 5-10 seconds. You can cool your gun down at any time by hitting the square button (X on Xbox), and the active reload only comes into play if you completely overheat your gun.

Once overheated, another bar will appear on your screen, with a small blue section and an even smaller orange section on it. What you need to do is hit the right trigger just when the cursor in the bar is within one of the colored sections. If you land in the blue, all of your gun’s built-up heat will dissipate, allowing you to fire once more. If you land in the orange, on the other hand, you’ll nail the active reload and get a short boost to your gun that lets you fire infinitely for roughly 10-15 seconds. Mastering the active reload system can help you out of some tough situations when you’re under fire.
