The Studio Behind the Shadow of the Colossus Remake Are Working on Another Remake

This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

Bluepoint Games, the developers of the highly regarded Shadow of the Colossus PS4 remake, have confirmed that it is going to be making another remake. Digital Foundry recently had the opportunity to interview Bluepoint Games about the technology side of the Shadow of the Colossus remake. In the interview, Digital Foundry asked whether the expanded art team that worked on the game would be working on an original title for their next project.

Well, we could but we’re doing another remake…  This project served us as a great point of growing the art team to the point where we can take on a full triple-A game major scope of art content. So now our next step is, let’s improve the art pipeline, let’s improve the engine, let’s improve workflow for artists, let’s grow on the art side some more to handle our next project because it’s a bit bigger. And our next focus is, all right, let’s work on design and add new stuff to get to the next remake, because now that can be our sole focus of making sure that’s where we put the time and everybody else, they’re already at a level where we can perform.

Bluepoint Games have a long history of developing remakes and remasters. As well as the Shadow of the Colossus remake, Bluepoint Games also worked on a number of PS3 remaster collections, including the God of War Collection, Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collection and Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, as well as the PS4 remasters Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Gravity Rush Remastered. It also helped port Titanfall to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale to the PlayStation Vita. Its only original title was a downloadable PS3 game called Blast Factor, which released way back in 2006.

Toward the end of the interview, Marco Thrush, President of Bluepoint Games, said “we’re really excited about our next project and we think you will be too when you find out what it is.”
