Rockstar to Clamp Down on GTA V Cheaters

This article is over 8 years old and may contain outdated information

Rockstar has updated their ban and suspension policy in regards to cheaters on GTA V online. In a statement made on the support section of their website, the industry giants have made it clear that cheating in any way throughout GTA V will not be tolerated.

For players that are unsure about the types of behavior that could lead to a ban, Rockstar explains:

“GTA Online suspensions are triggered by a number of factors, including modding in GTA Online, exploiting or abusing game mechanics, manipulating protected game data and code, or interfering with other players’ gameplay experience”

Those found breaking any of the above rules will see themselves stuck with a temporary ban from GTA online. This temporary penalty not only prevents offenders from accessing the game for a period of time, it also resets their online character and all of their progress up to that point.

If the temporary suspension seems heavy, Rockstar has also made it clear that players in breach of the policy for a second time will be subject to a permanent ban from GTA online.

The decision to enforce such strict punishments on players could result in a decline in popularity around the game, especially with Rockstar stating that “All GTA Online suspension and banning decisions are final and may not be appealed.”
