Pokemon from the second generation of its main games might be added to Pokemon GO in the future, according to dataminers who have sifted through the code in the app’s latest update.
Pokemon GO community site The Silph Road has found the names of evolutionary items, including Dragon Scale, Kings Rock, Metal Coat, Sun Stone, and Upgrade. These items debuted in Pokemon Gold and Silver, and would evolve certain Pokemon past the first generation’s evolutions.
The code also mentions specific forms of the mysterious Pokemon Unown, which were introduced in Gold and Silver and come in 28 forms representing the alphabet and punctuation. Unown is currently not available to catch in the app, but the data mine suggests support for its many forms is coming.
The Silph Road uncovered other new features not available yet, such as 38 new moves, a news menu, more avatar customization options, and code for shiny and gendered Pokemon. The latest Pokemon GO update, version 0.53.1 for Android and 1.23.1 for iOS, changed the GPS distance tracking and some minor text files.
