Blizzard has detailed a new patch just released for the Overwatch beta which will add a new map, game mode and more balance changes to the team based first-person shooter.
The beta patch is a pretty hefty one, weighing in at 1.5GB. Perhaps the biggest news from the update is the addition of a new map – Route 66. The update is also bringing a new game mode called Weekly Brawl, which features custom rule sets that are rotated in and out on a weekly basis.
For example, one week might see you restricted to only using one hero, while the next week could see the rules change so that you have to play as a random hero each game. During the beta, the Weekly Brawl will rotate every day, rather than each week, for testing purposes.
Other improvements have been made, including some to the Play of the Game feature, which will now take into account different types of gameplay during a round.
A large number of additional changes to both character balance and the overall game have also been made. For a full, in-depth look at the beta’s changes, visit Blizzard’s official post.
Overwatch is coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One on May. 24th, with an open beta running from May. 5th to 9th.
