Codemasters’ upcoming arcade racer Onrush is looking better and better each time we see it in action, and the latest outing is no different. The new footage shows off the “Stampede” system where the player can take several different routes to control the outcome of the race. There’s narration by game director Paul Rustchynsky as well, so if you’re interested in the hows and whys of the game, you can check out the video to see what he has to say about it all.
Onrush isn’t a simulation game and is instead an arcade racer with plenty of interesting tidbits to offer. It’s going to offer several unique vehicles with which you can tear up the track, as well as mechanics that “celebrate” the arcade titles of the past. The PlayStation 4 will have a deluxe edition with eight exclusive vehicle designs, two tombstones, a vortex buggy, and eight console exclusive designs as well.
The game is scheduled for a June 5 release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, but you can have a peek at it with the video below if you can’t wait. If you’ve been waiting for a racer with more arcade-based mechanics instead of staggering realism, it looks like this might be the game to whet your whistle. At the very least, you might want to try it out for some of its more unique design decisions.
