How to Pick and Roll in NBA 2K18

Recommended Videos

Simply driving towards the basket to land layups and dunks won’t get you anywhere in the higher difficulty levels of NBA 2K18, as you need a good offensive play to penetrate their defense. Similar to past NBA 2K games, the pick and roll in NBA 2K18 is an effective offensive play that can quickly break your opponent’s defense, allowing you to easily drive towards the basket or create an easy shot opening for your teammate. Here’s how to pull off the pick and roll move in NBA 2K18.

The pick and roll is activated by holding the call play button (L1 on PS4 and LB on Xbox One). This causes one of your teammates to set up a screen. From here on, while you’re still holding the button, you can tap R2 to change your teammate’s screen position from left to right. With the screen (pick) in place, you have created an opening to move towards the basket, which will cause panic among the defenders as you can drive towards the basket or perform an open jump shot, thus making them gang up on your player. With the defenders now in disarray, you have created an open shot for your teammate who set the screen.

While holding the pick and roll button, you can also task them to either roll or fade by pressing R2 or RB. Roll makes your teammate move towards the basket for a layup or dunk. Meanwhile, fade lets them position themselves accordingly for an open jump shot. Regardless of what you do, you’ll end up with an assist in NBA 2K18 by doing the pick and roll move.
