Nathan Drake’s Real Last Name Is Finally Revealed in Uncharted 4

He's, unfortunately, not like Cher or Madonna.

We’ve known for some time that Nathan Drake has been lying straight to our faces about his real last name. No, he’s not a descendant of Sir Francis Drake, Marlowe in Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception had it all figured out. Nathan was just a boy straight out of an orphanage that switched it up and made up the whole Drake ancestry.

It’s finally in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End that we find out more about his mother, and while we still have never learned of his father’s name, we can deduce Nathan’s last name.

In Chapter 16, The Brothers Drake, we see a flashback of Nate and Sam sneaking into a mansion to take back their mother’s belongings. Upon finally finding the correct journal, it’s revealed that his mother’s name was Cassandra Morgan.

Nathan Morgan doesn’t sound as cool, though, so it totally makes sense why Sam and Nate would change their last names. Only fitting to pretend to be descendants of Sir Francis Drake if they were going to become treasure hunters, after all.
