Twitch Prime is a New Amazon Service that Promises “Lots of Cool Free Stuff”

Sorta new and improved.
This article is over 8 years old and may contain outdated information

Twitch has announced a new service called Twitch Prime, which yes, does include Amazon Prime in some way. This in turn means that their premium Turbo service is going away. Those who already have it won’t lose it, but anyone who was considering buying it in the future has lost the chance in the countries where Twitch Prime is out.

In order to get Twitch Prime, you will need to have signed up for Amazon Prime ($10.99 a month or $99 for the year in the US). Those who decide to get this new service will get access to “free game loot,” such as access to the newest Hearthstone hero or Steamline, a new indie game. There will be free stuff given out every month if you decide to go with Prime, along with discounts through Amazon on newly release boxed games during pre-order and the first two weeks of launch.

There are also many of the Turbo benefits included into Twitch Prime such as no ads, a chat badge, emotes and 60 days of video storage. The main difference between Turbo and Twitch Prime is that with Prime, you can subscribe to a channel for free every 30 days, and despite it being free for you the broadcaster will still get paid.

If you have Amazon Prime already, then all you have to do is go to the Twitch Prime website to connect both accounts. If you already have Turbo and are wondering if you should get both, then you should know that the same announcement does state that you’re better off canceling Turbo. Twitch Prime has already gone live today and is available in United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain.
