Side Ops Are the Right Ops
As you progress through Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, you will continuously unlock new missions that you can embark on. Some of these missions are known as Side Ops.
Side Ops are smaller, quicker missions that are completely skippable if you so choose. They usually offer benefits to main missions by cutting off certain supplies, or granting you the opportunity to obtain valuable recruits. They also all come with a fairly decent GMP (money) reward. The fact that they’re usually short and sweet makes them perfect for players quickly trying to fatten their wallets.
Side Ops are fun, Side Ops are life, Side Ops get you paid.
Dispatch Missions
After a few missions and some times has passed in Metal Gear Solid V: TPP, you will be able to expand your Mother Base. Add on a Combat Unit platform, and you will have a team of seasoned soldiers ready to do your bidding. Using the Mother Base menus, you will be able to dispatch your soldiers into the field in order for them to set up operations for you or eliminate certain advantages the enemy may be trying to use against you.
One other benefit to dispatch missions is that your soldiers earn rewards while out in the field, and these rewards go directly to you. Think of it like Assassin’s Creed when you sent your assassins out on contracts. It’s basically the same system.
Don’t feel too bad about sending them into danger either, they do it for you because you’re their leader. So toughen up, and let those peacocks fly.
Diamonds and Pearls (Well, Just Diamonds)
Scattered around the world of Metal Gear Solid V: TPP are items known as rough diamonds. They are relatively easy to spot by just looking around since they give off a very bright glint. You can even locate them at long distances using your binoculars.
If you’re having trouble locating these pricey gems, feel free to sneak up on and interrogate guards. One of the more common types of information they provide is the location of valuables (usually diamonds). This will actually mark them on your map, making your GMP collecting much easier.
Keep in mind that Rough Diamonds come in multiple sizes that range in value from 10k-100k GMP. Happy hunting!
Sell All the Things
Remember how you’ve been going crazy using the Fulton Recover System on everything that isn’t bolted down in Metal Gear Solid V: TPP? Well those things end up at your Mother Base, and depending on what those things are, you may be making your soldiers a bit uncomfortable. Instead of being a pack rat (as well as a venomous snake), you could sell all of those things and line your pockets with some good old fashioned GMP.
If you have tons of materials, vehicles, animals, or anything else you don’t use, sell it. Might as well scrap trash and turn it into cash you can use for things like upgrades to Mother Base, or to invest into your buddies.
With these tips you’ll never wake up broke in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Just roll around in the money and all of the possibilities it brings.
