Mass Effect: Legendary Edition’s Elevator Load Times Will Be Shorter, But Just as Charming

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition finally has a confirmed release date for this May, and BioWare has been sharing more information about the game, along with some major changes we can expect in the remaster. Speaking with Game Informer, BioWare touched upon one of the most iconic gameplay moments from the first Mass Effect: the hilariously long load times that players have to sit through whenever they enter the elevator in the Citadel.

During these sequences, players would be able to enjoy some light banter between squadmates, as well as soundbites from the news and media reports in the elevator. These definitely helped to alleviate the long loading times, though there were still periods of awkward silences that you’d have to sit through while waiting for the game to finish loading.

With Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, the loading times have been cut short pretty significantly, but you’ll be glad to know that all of those voice lines and banter are still in the game; they’ve just been triggered to start faster when you’re in the elevator.

In addition to that, once the game finishes loading, you’ll be able to push a button to progress and skip the dialogue, or wait till your squadmates are done talking. BioWare also mentioned that the loading times on PC will vary based on your setup, but players can expect around 14 seconds of waiting with the new remaster.
