Kara Zor-El didn’t vanish forever after the destruction of her planet. The ship that her uncle had built for her put her into stasis as she drifted through the cold expanse of space. She was discovered by Black Adam. While he’s definitely been a villain in the past, he was part of Superman’s Regime and, alongside Wonder Woman, is keeping Kara hidden from Batman.
Their plan is to use her as a trump card to free Superman from prison once the opportunity arises. There’s trouble brewing, though, as Kara is becoming comfortable with her abilities and wants to get out there to help people. While they claim it’s for her safety, Wonder Woman and Black Adam keep her prisoner. She goes along with it for now, since she’s unaware of what her cousin has become and truly wants to save him.
