How to Create a PSN Account on PS4
If you have found your way to this guide you are likely basking in the glory of a freshly unboxed PS4 or you’re tired of allowing a friend, family member, or annoying roommate hop on your PlayStation Network account, most commonly referred to as a PSN account. Whatever the reason may be, you need to create a brand new PSN account and can’t figure out how to do so. Fortunately, your friends at Twinfinite are here to help.
Creating a PSN account on PS4 is an easy task if you know what you’re looking for. Once you power up the console you will see a collection of users who already have accounts on this PS4 with one far less interesting looking slot that’s designated for anyone who wants to create a new user. Scroll over this option and select it. On the next screen you will choose to Create a User. After this you will be taken to a sign-in screen. This is where anyone who already has a PSN account would log in, but that’s not what you’re here for. Scroll down to the bottom of this page and select the option to create an account.
If this is a brand new PS4 you will be prompted to pick a PlayStation Plus membership at this point. This membership will be absolutely necessary if you want to play online. If you don’t care about having online features or you already have a PlayStation Plus membership, you won’t have to worry about purchasing a subscription. Simply select “Skip” and move on. The next screen will ask you to designate a primary PS4. If this is the console you plan on using the most, then you’ll simply click “Activate.” If you don’t plan on making this your primary PS4 choose “Do Not Activate” instead.
At this poin, you will finally be at the screen to start the actual sign-up process for a PSN account. From this moment forward, everything will be pretty easy to follow. Fill in all the information you’re being asked for. This will include all sorts of questions like your birthday, country, email address, and, of course, the password you would like to set for the account.
Creating your profile will be the fun part. This is where you will choose your avatar and create your online ID. You will be guided through a variety of privacy setting options. How you set up this part of your account is completely up to you. Accept PlayStation’s terms and conditions and then verify the email address and you will be all set with a new PSN account.
