How to Play PS4 Games on PC
It’s not hard to see why playing PS4 games on PC is so popular. Though it essentially boils down to playing on another screen via Remote Play, playing on PC nets users the benefit of switching back and forth between programs on the fly. This is especially convenient should the game being played prove to be difficult or if you find yourself addicted to those elusive PSN trophies that are growing in popularity nowadays.
First thing to check off on your list is your PC and internet specifications. To download and use the Remote Play client, you’ll need to be running a Windows 10 operating system or higher. You’ll also at least need a 5 Mb internet connection to display a default resolution of 540p and default frame rate of 30 fps. Of course, the Remote Play client allows you to choose from a higher resolution (720p) and higher speed (60 fps) should you prefer playing that way. As far as playing with a mouse and keyboard is concerned, you’ll be able to bypass learning all those commands entirely, as users are allowed to play PS4 games on PC so long as they connect their DualShock 4 controllers to their towers via micro USB.
Now that you’ve made sure you have all the requirements, go ahead and install the Remote Play client using Sony’s official website. Simply download the application by following the on-screen instructions. Once the client has finished installing, you’ll be prompted to update your PS4 software to 3.50 if you haven’t already. If you know your system isn’t up to date but didn’t receive the message, don’t worry. You can always trigger the update manually by heading over to Settings > System Software Update once you’ve completed everything in this guide.
From here you can go ahead and open the new Remote Play application on your PC. Unfortunately as it exists today, the application only supports wired connections, meaning now would be a good time to plug your PS4 controller into your PC via micro USB. Once you’ve made sure your DualShock 4 is connected properly, click “Start.”
You’ll now be prompted to sign into your PSN account. This is the same exact one you use on your PS4, so no worries here. The Remote Play application will automatically search for your PS4 console after you enter and submit your credentials. If your PS4 isn’t registered as your Primary PS4 or if your system is completely shut off (as opposed to being in Rest Mode), Remote Play may not find it and you’ll have to connect manually.
Have no fear, as connecting manually isn’t as daunting as it sounds, though your PS4 and PC must share the same network in order for the connection to work. Once you click “Connect Manually” on the Remote Play application, you’ll be provided with a number. Turn on your PS4 and head to Settings > Remote Play Connection Settings > Add Device to supply the code and voila! Your PC should now properly read your PS4 and vice-versa.
All that’s left to do from here is play some sweet games. Keep in mind that should you ever change your connection settings, you’ll have to either close the Remote Play application on your PC or turn off your PS4 completely. Happy gaming!
