Hitman Enhanced Edition Launch Trailer Showcases Updated Graphics

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

IO Interactive is launching Hitman Enhanced Edition later this week, Jan. 11. The remasters upscale two games spanning two previous console generations to 4K resolution and 60 frames per second, even on base PS4 & Xbox One consoles.

“We’re very happy with this collection and how we were able to update and remaster two of our classic Hitman titles for modern consoles,” said Hakan Abrak, CEO, IO Interactive. “Hitman: Blood Money and Hitman: Absolution have helped us on our journey to where we are today, and we’re looking forward to players enjoying them in 4K and 60 fps.”

Both Hitman Blood Money and Hitman Absolution receive a substantial number of other improvements beyond just smoother performance. These include:

  • 4K visuals at 60 frames per second
  • Increased texture resolution
  • Upgraded texture formats
  • Super-sampling
  • Upscale support
  • Heightened shadow map and mirror resolutions
  • Improved lighting
  • Updated controls for a more fluid experience

Blood Money, first launched in 2006, is one of the most celebrated games in the entire series, and for many, the highwater mark. It perfected the sandbox formula and huge range of available assassinations the series is best known for.

2013’s Absolution, on the other hand, wasn’t as well received critically for its change to a more linear, story-driven design. For my money, though, while it might not be the best Hitman game, it’s still a very good steal game that’s definitely worth revisiting –especially with the enhancements to its performance.
