Even more details emerge from a new Famitsu interview.
This article is over 9 years old and may contain outdated information

The Final Fantasy VII Remake has been the talk of the town since PlayStation Experience, and especially after the news came out that the game would be released in a “multi-part series.” Last week the game’s producer Yoshinori Kitase posted a blog hoping to clear up some thoughts on this announcement.

This week a new Famitsu interview with Yoshinori Kitase, director Tetsuya Nomura and scenario writer Kazushige Nojima has led to a few more extra details about the title. The information comes from Hachima via Siliconera. Here’s some of the interesting points covered in the interview.

  • We’ll be able to explore around all areas of Midgar
  • Square Enix wants to delve more deeply and spend more time on Biggs, Wedge and Jessie
  • They can’t say how many volumes or parts the remake will be at this stage
  • They can’t say anything about online features right now
  • The main scenario for the first part of the “multiple-entries” is already done
  • We already knew the game was being made with Unreal Engine 4, but the team will also be receiving assistance from the Kingdom Hearts 3 development team, which also uses Unreal 4
  • Cloud’s hallucination scenes will be more meaningful
  • The voice cast is expected to be the same from Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children
  • The “ATB Gauge” that turns red is different from a Limit Break, and Square Enix plans on having a special system, one that they can’t show yet, but it will change depending on the play-style of the player.

There’s no word on a release date for the first part of the Final Fantasy VII Remake as of yet. The development team seems to be getting a wealth of help on the game though, so hopefully we’ll see it sooner rather than later. What do you think about the new information on the remake? Would you be interested in finding out more about Biggs, Wedge and Jessie? Let us know what you think down in the comments.
