Horizon Zero Dawn
Guerrilla Games’ Horizon Zero Dawn is one of the finest games to grace current gen systems, let alone one of the best newcomers. Horizon puts players in control of Aloy, a young tribeswoman who’s determined to uncover the mysteries of a post-post-apocalyptic world teeming with giant mechanical creatures. Players will need to battle against both human and machine as they follow a deep and involving story spanning the entirety of the game’s map. Its biggest strength, however, comes in its intuitive combat which requires players to identify enemy weak points and exploit them with an arsenal of weapons. If you haven’t played it yet, you really should. It’s truly something special.
The game’s post-credit scene certainly seems to suggest that Guerrilla Games has plans to bring a sequel in the future, but exactly when that will be remains to be seen. With the potential for even more machines, more quests, equally stunning visuals, and compelling combat, a Horizon Zero Dawn sequel sits somewhere near the top of our wishlist.
