So pretty.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is being awaited with bated breath by legions of fans. The first entry in the MW series is considered by many to be the point where Call of Duty became a household name. With all of the remasters and remakes happening in recent years, it was only a matter of time before Activision revisited this modern classic and brought it to the current gen with all of the glitz and glam that the PS4 and Xbox One could possibly pump out.

But just how “remastered” is this release? Looking at the game alone will show how pretty Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is, but it’s not until comparing them side by side that you can really see how much work has been put into the project. To help you out, we’ve captured footage of the Prologue mission titled “Crew Expendable” on a PS4 and are comparing it with the exact same mission on the Xbox 360.

All visuals have been completely redone, from textures to the physics of world elements around you. Lighting has more of an effect on what you see and the overall atmosphere, particles fill the air as explosions rip through the ship and bullets whiz by. Staring into Sergeant Price’s face as he barks orders at you no longer has that dummy effect of looking at something so obviously fake. This is a true remaster, head and shoulders above a lot of Call of Duty visuals we’ve seen thus far.

It’s cool to see how far technology has come as you walk down corridors and across battlefields of this classic game that has some well-deserved polish slapped on. It’s also gratifying to see that this isn’t just some up-res of an old game like some other “remasters” have seen. If this mission is anything to go by, fans are in for a real treat.
