It has been many moons since Capcom first announced Deep Down, a medieval fantasy online action RPG that was meant to be a PS4 exclusive. The game looked pretty neat, and there were even some futuristic sci-fi elements to it. Players living in the present day (2094, to be exact) were able to travel back to the past by interacting with special artifacts. This would allow them to travel back in time and wander around prehistoric dungeons infested with frightening monsters. Capcom also announced that it would be an online co-op experience that you could enjoy with friends.
However, it’s been quite a few years since that initial announcement and the launch of the PS4, yet Deep Down is still nowhere to be seen. Well, Capcom has extended its lifespan by renewing the trademark in the USA, and requesting an extension of the deadline.
The request reads: “Applicant maintains its efforts in conducting product and/or service research or development with respect to the allowed good and services.”
Capcom’s barely said anything about the game over the course of the past few years, and it hasn’t been present at the many gaming conventions and events that have passed since then. Deep Down isn’t dead yet, according to this trademark renewal, but there’s not much time left to make something of it.
