Call of Duty: WWII is here, and it seems to be just what the doctor ordered in terms of boosting previously dwindling sales for the shooter franchise. After annual updates seem to have left gamers feeling a little cold, it appears that Call of Duty: WWII was just the shot in the arm the series needed to bolster its sales, as UK statistics group GfK Chart-Track has reported a 57% higher number of sales and 21% higher revenue than last year’s Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.
The stats, according the group, are quite surprising, but as user Kenzodielocke on ResetEra explains, launch numbers for Infinite Warfare previously hovered around 328,000. Call of Duty: WW2 would have hit 515,000 or something around there, if 57% is indeed the correct percentage of improvement in terms of units moved.
That’s an impressive number, but not difficult to believe given the changes that were made to the campaign that fans have no doubt taken notice of. It should be interesting to see how the game continues to perform and what it ends up with in terms of sales and numbers when the official stats come out.
