The Riddler’s Puzzle
Batman: The Enemy Within – Episode 1 Story Summary
Batman meets up with Gordon to discuss the information he got from John. After examining some areas in the East End, they deduce that the Riddler must be holed up in an abandoned water tower there. At the water tower, they’re soon trapped inside the building, and they realize that this is a puzzle the Riddler set up for them, and they’ll have to solve it if they want to go free.
They also discover the dead body of one of Waller’s agents, as well as the contact information of each of the other agents under her charge. The Riddler’s computer also contains an email from one of his associates, saying that he’s gone too far and that they don’t want to risk getting Batman’s attention.
Upon examining the dead body and their surroundings, Batman figures out how to get past the Riddler’s puzzle, which includes a speaker that can emit sonic blasts to rupture a person’s eardrums. The Riddler then appears on a large television monitor (via webcam and Skype, I assume) to taunt Batman. He says that Waller’s agency made him what he is, and he accuses Batman of sacrificing innocent lives to get further.
Later on, when Gordon asks Batman what Riddler meant by him sacrificing innocent lives, you can either lie to him or tell him the truth about Lucius being one of his allies. If you tell him the truth, Gordon will hesitate for a moment before deciding to trust you, and pretend that he never heard any of this.
