Apex Legends developer, Respawn, took to Reddit to address the game’s latest patch, as well as lay out a roadmap for more fixes to come in the future.
The latest update is currently live across all platforms. With the patch installed, players can expect a few of the weapons to be nerfed, as well as to see fixes for some of game’s performance bugs.
Check out the full patch notes below:
Wingman
-
Rate of fire reduced from 3.1 -> 2.6 shots per second.
- Skullpiercer headshot damage multiplier reduced from 2.5 -> 2.25.
-
Increased base hip fire spread and decreased the rate at which hip fire spread decays (shrinks back down).
Peacekeeper
-
Shotgun Bolt rechamber rate has been reduced for the Peacekeeper only.
-
Level 1 mitigation 10% -> 7.5%
-
Level 2 mitigation 20% -> 13%
-
Level 3 mitigation 25% -> 16%
-
-
Wingman and Peacekeeper availability has been reduced in all zone tiers.
-
Increased availability of energy weapons & ammo in all zone tiers.
-
Fixed some script errors that we identified were occasionally causing disconnects during matches.
-
Caustic occasionally causing disconnects while throwing is Ultimate.
-
Pathfinder occasionally causing disconnects when activating a Survey Beacon.
-
Players occasionally causing disconnects when removing an attachment.
-
Gibraltar occasionally causing disconnects when pulling up his Gun Shield.
-
Players occasionally causing disconnects when entering Spectate Mode.
-
While the changes to both the Peacekeeper and Wingman may seem small, they are indeed game-changing. The damage multiplier for headshots will mean that it might take an extra shot or two to get your enemy down with the Wingman.
As for the Peacekeeper, the bolt rechamber rate has been nerfed to give any player staring down its barrel more of a chance to flee.
These changes do make the weapons a tad less attractive, but ultimately it’s a necessary step to make the gameplay more balanced for everyone.
The studio also addressed the recent fan concern over some of the larger characters’Â hitboxes. Respawn said that it is working on adjusting the hitboxes to fit the character models better.
However, if this doesn’t fix the issue then the developer plans to work on further balancing these characters to make them more viable.
Of course, it makes sense that Respawn is giving Apex Legends so much attention right now, as this update comes right off the heels of the game hitting 50 million players in its first month of release. An impressive achievement to say the least.
With such a massive player base, let’s hope the game continues to receive these updates. You can play Apex Legends for free now on PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
