How to Get and Use Upgrade Cores in Agents of Mayhem
Upgrade Cores are like skill points on steroids. They unlock permanent stat boosts for your Agents that are tailored to each specific hero and really boost their usability. Because they are so potent, they aren’t the most common resource in the game. In fact you’ll usually find just one at a time, or even just a piece of one. Thankfully, though you don’t get them in large amounts they aren’t the most difficult thing in the world to obtain. There are a few ways to build up your collection of Upgrade Cores:
Mission Reward – You don’t get these from all missions, but there is a chance that you may get one every now and then.
LEGION Outposts – Capturing outposts is guaranteed to provide Upgrade Cores.
Stopping Doomsday Devices – While these aren’t super common, they’re common enough to be a viable source.
Collect 10 Crystal Shards – Some Wreck Room Activities and open world activities provide these shards as a reward. You can also find some scattered around the open world of Seoul. Collect 10 and you’ll be able to make an Upgrade Core.
Once you have an Upgrade Core, go into the Squad menu as if you were going to level up. Instead of choosing Upgrades, though, choose Core Upgrade instead. Do note that unlike skill point exchanges, core upgrades are final.
Also, after reaching level 20 with any of the available characters in Agents of Mayhem, you can then use Upgrade Cores to bring them up to level 40, maxing out each of their skills.
