Any Metal Gear fan worth his or her Sneaking Suit will no doubt be aware that a rift has been created between Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima and the publisher Konami. It started when Kojima announced that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain would be his last game with Konami.

At first it seemed Kojima simply wanted to go on to do other things but the situation escalated when Konami stated that they planned to continue creating Metal Gear games without Kojima. Things got even more heated when Konami started removing Hideo Kojima’s name from all Metal Gear related products and promotions. Neither Konami nor Kojima have clarified exactly what is going on but one thing is for certain, it has certainly got Metal Gear fans spooked.

Many gamers have directed anger towards Konami as it seems the company is trying to get players to forget Kojima’s involvement with the Metal Gear series. It’s certainly true that without him, the Metal Gear franchise wouldn’t have been nearly as popular.

Despite the fact that Kojima and his team are still hard at work on finishing The Phantom Pain, some fans have felt that they no longer wish to play the game, due to Konami’s actions. In response to this, two voice artists connected to The Phantom Pain have urged people not to miss out on the game.

Snake’s Japanese voice actor, Akio Otsuka, took to Twitter to try and encourage fans not to skip the game. He posted the following Tweet which was translated by JunkerHQ and reads:

“The TPP team is the same, so please don’t cancel preorders or encourage others not to buy it,”

Singer Donna Burke has also showed her support for the game on Twitter by writing:

Burke has been the vocalist on several Metal Gear songs including Heaven’s Divide which was featured in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and Sins of the Father which has been featured in trailers for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, and will no doubt appear in the game.

Burke then interacted with many of the fans who replied to her Tweet:
