It’s a big week for fans of the tactical RPG, for anyone who spent hours playing games like Final Fantasy Tactics, Tactics Ogre, and/or Vagrant Story. The mastermind behind FF Tactics, Yasumi Matsuno, has begun a Kickstarter drive to raise a minimum of $600,000 for his new project.
Titled “Unsung Story,” it currently sits at almost half its funding goal only two days after its creation. As a project headed by such a prominent figure in gaming, there is little doubt that it will meet its funding goal.
Thus the major attractions are the stretch goals. If certain funding limits are met, a plethora of additional features will be built into the game such as extra missions, voiceovers and translation, including at the very tippy top of $3.2 million a map creator.
Other early goals include the involvement of epic game composer Hitoshi Sakimoto, known for his incredible works in Final Fantasy Tactics, the Valkyria Chronicles series, and recently Dragon’s Crown. Oh yeah, and it could be ported to PSVita and 3DS. Interested now?
If the success of Kickstarter projects like Project Eternity (now dubbed Pillars of Eternity) is anything to go by, it’s very likely that this could be the next big development project to emerge from the crowdfunding portal.
