The announcement marks the first single-player campaign to come to the free-to-play title since its initial launch in 2010. Titled ‘War Stories’ players will play through a number of “alternative histories, and even explore the chaos of fantasy campaigns” as part of a “story-driven, episodic gameplay” experience.

One episode, detailed in an announcement post over on PlayStation Blog, will see players venture to Germany to take part in a conflict between the Allies and Soviet forces with regards to a violation of the Potsdam Agreements. No other details were shared on where else players could find themselves in World of Tanks’ single-player campaign. You can check out the trailer for War Stories below.

For any newcomers just joining the battlefield of World of Tanks, the single-player campaign will also come with a new tutorial to help you get to grips with the basics.

War Stories is due to hit World of Tanks on Aug. 22, so if you’ve been waiting for the right time to jump in, now’s the time.

World of Tanks is available on PS4, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.
