Daniel Mullins, the solo indie developer behind the critically lauded and incredibly memorable Pony Island, has just launched his third title, Inscryption, on PC.
To commemorate the big occasion, Mullins and acclaimed publisher Developer Digital has dropped a brand new launch trailer to showcase the psychological horror deck-builder in action. Feast your eyes on said footage down below:
Clearly, those of you who’re familiar with Mullins’ signature brand of pull-the-rug-from-under-you subversiveness will have an inkling of what to expect going in. However, everyone else readying themselves for a conventional Slay The Spire-esque clone, beware!
Yes, while we haven’t yet played Inscryption, it’s fair to say that expecting the unexpected will be par for the course as Mullins is well-known for his creative and imaginative third wall-breaking meta gameplay.
Personally, Pony Island was one of my favorite games from back in 2016 so I’ve got high hopes that Inscryption will be a super unique release, too. Indeed, if you’re yet to play Pony Island, we’d suggest checking that one out as well – seriously, you won’t regret it!
For those on the fence, you can check out a demo of the game here. And for more information, here’s the rundown courtesy of Inscryption’s official Steam page:
From the creator of Pony Island and The Hex comes the latest mind melting, self-destructing love letter to video games. Inscryption is an inky black card-based odyssey that blends the deckbuilding roguelike, escape-room style puzzles, and psychological horror into a blood-laced smoothie. Darker still are the secrets inscrybed upon the cards…
In Inscryption you will…
– Acquire a deck of woodland creature cards by draft, surgery, and self mutilation
– Unlock the secrets lurking behind the walls of Leshy’s cabin
– Embark on an unexpected and deeply disturbing odyssey
But what say you? Will you be checking out Inscryption on PC? Or will you be giving it a miss? Let us know in the usual place down below.
