Gamescom 2015 is in full swing and over the past two days we’ve seen new footage and trailers of some excellent looking games. One of the highlights for many gamers will be the 30 minute demo of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain we got to see.
The demo showed off how players of Metal Gear Solid V will be able to create, customize, and control their very own Mother Base, which will be the hub for Snake’s new mercenary force Diamond Dogs.
The demo shows off how much attention has gone to the base and how players will return there after missions to get some R&R, interact with the NPC’s, make adjustments to the base, and even fend off invasions from rival players.
The most interesting part of the demo was when the multiplayer aspect was shown. In Metal Gear Solid V, players will be able to infiltrate other players bases in order to get resources to put towards their own base. The demo showed both the perspective of the defender and the attacker and gave us an idea of the numerous different ways players can engage one another. If you don’t like the idea of having to go head to head to defend your base, then worry not. It was confirmed that players will be able to play the game offline and can ignore this feature. Whilst risks are involved with taking on other players, there are certainly great rewards to be gained.
