Kingdom Come: Deliverance Bests The Witcher 3 in First Week Steam Players

Kingdom Come: Deliverance, the new medieval RPG funded by Kickstarter, surpassed 96,000 concurrent Steam players this past Sunday, earning it the fourth spot on the platform’s list of most played games over the weekend, according to GitHyp.

This statistic goes beyond that of even The Witcher 3 when it launched back in May 2015, as this game also peaked at the fourth spot on Steam but reached only 92,000 concurrent players as its all-time high. Numbers don’t lie, and it seems as though in this regard Kingdom Come: Deliverance has got The Witcher 3 beat.

All this being said, this doesn’t account for all the users playing The Witcher 3 on parent company CD Projekt’s GOG platform. It’s likely that, because of the wide appeal of the game on that marketplace, Kingdom Come: Deliverance won’t surpass The Witcher 3’s sales in the long run, though it still will perform well sales-wise.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance has gotten mostly positive feedback from both Steam users and critics, as it faithfully recreates the dark ages in a way few other games in the medium have. It’s brutal in a sense, though does reward your patience by making you feel like a badass the more you play the game. It’s no wonder that it has so many people playing it, really, if only to satiate their appetites for another meaty RPG after the last Witcher game.
