It’s not too long now until we’ll be able to get our hands on Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition, but there’s still enough time for Square Enix to give us a few more details about the title. In an interview with technical director Takeshi Aramaki, and game design manager Kenichi Shida at the recent PC Gamer Weekender, we’ve learnt more about some of the technical aspects of the PC version, as well as a few other details.
It has been restated that that the PC version of Final Fantasy XV has not been ported from the console version, but has instead been built from the ground up. According to the team, the PC version will have higher quality assets than the console version that have been specifically designed to take advantage of the increased power of the PC.
Furthermore, Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition will support minor modding possibilities at launch. The example is given of being able to re-skin all of the characters. Square Enix plans to expand mod support in the future with more extensive modding tools.
Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition will release soon on March 6, and will come with all of the game’s previous downloadable content.
