Atlas Devs Apologize for Stormy Launch, Promise Regular Updates to Improve Balance and Stability

Developed by Studio Wildcard, Atlas finally entered Early Access on Steam, and it hasn’t exactly been a very smooth start. Aside from the Early Access launch getting delayed a few times, and progress getting wiped, players have also run into the usual performance issues and crashes that you usually see in online multiplayer games.

This past weekend, the developers posted an update on Steam to apologize for the stormy launch, and talked a little about how they planned on rolling out changes for the game going forward.

‘The initial influx of players wanting to set sail immediately was (predictably in hindsight) larger than we anticipated and our systems got crushed until we tuned the new technical systems to handle it. We have been incredibly humbled and excited by the number of seafaring Pathfinders wanting to dive into the ATLAS. Since the launch, the team has heavily prioritised connection and capacity resolutions, server and client-side performance updates, server and client-side crash fixes as well as tackling general gameplay bugs and balance concerns.’

Outside of that, the patch notes for version 7.4 were also released, with fixes for server and client-side crashes. This patch also includes other tweaks, such as reduced aggro ranges on enemy ships and enemy HP to make the game a little more enjoyable for players.

Atlas is now available on Steam Early Access for PC.
