Yakuza Producer Says Western Fans Were a Big Factor In Making Remasters

This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

During a Yakuza-themed livestream series producer, Toshihiro Nagoshi, said that enthusiasm from western fans was a big factor in the decision to make the remasters of Yakuza 3, 4, and 5. According to Nagoshi the three remasters won’t be cutting content, something that he no doubt mentioned due to the infamous localization of Yakuza 3, which cut out minigames, substories, hostesses, and more for the western release. At the moment the new remasters haven’t been confirmed for release outside of Japan, but Nagoshi’s comments certainly seem to indicate that we’ll see them at some point.
The series has seen a huge surge in popularity with western audiences after the release of Yakuza 0. Many of those fans, however, didn’t have a chance to experience the gap between Yakuza Kiwami, a remake of the first game, and Yakuza 6: The Song of Life. The remasters put the entirety of the main series onto one platform. You can see Nagoshi’s comments in the video down below, at around the 42-minute mark.
