A brand new game was revealed during Ubisoft’s E3 2019 conference. Gods & Monsters is in development from the same creators of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey at the Ubisoft office in Quebec City.
The game aims to take sometimes complicated Greek mythology stories and make them accessible to anyone through gameplay. During the show, Ubisoft Quebec senior producer Marc-Alexis Côté says “These [mythology] stories have shaped our dreams, inspiring us to build something new. Something that transcends the limits we have always set upon ourselves.”
In Gods & Monsters you play as a customizable Grecian named Phoenix who is tasked with aiding the almighty Olympians save a place called the Island of the Blessed. The gameplay is said to be a mix between standard combat and environment based puzzles.
The idea for the game came about when the Assassin’s Creed Odyssey team realized the just how many amazing stories there were in Ancient Greek mythology. Since they could not fit all those tales into Odyssey, Gods & Monsters came about to attempt to tell all these Greek mythology stories in a light-hearted way.
Gods & Monsters is set to release on February 25, 2020 for Xbox One, PS4, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Stadia.
Check out the short cinematic trailer down below, showing off the game’s cartoony but stylish artstyle that is distinctly different from the realistic graphics of the Assassin’s Creed series.
The Gods & Monsters reveal ended Ubisoft’s E3 conference, but other game reveals include Roller Champions and the highly awaited Watch Dogs Legion.
