Crowd Imperium Games boss Chris Roberts has put out a “Happy New Year” statement, in which he discusses some of the plans he has for Star Citizen in 2017.

Roberts talks about improvements being made to the game’s Lumberyard engine saying, “We’ll continue to modify and improve our game engine to better suit Star Citizen’s unique needs.” He also talked about procedural planet generation, as made possible by new tech – “I also expect exciting advancements as we integrate our revolutionary tech, like subsumption and procedural planets, into the game.”

Roberts also made mention of the positive response to Star Citizen’s Alpha 2.6 release saying, “We were happy to see positive feedback from the Alpha 2.6 release and impressed by the number of stunning videos and images being created with the new camera controls.”

The upcoming 2.6.1 patch will add further features along with bug fixes: “We are planning releasing an incremental patch, 2.6.1 with some of the features that slipped out of 2.6, bug fixes for increased stability.”
