The game (which was hinted at during EA’s latest financial conference call) is officially releasing on October 18 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

The best news is perhapts that you can start playing now thanks to the Founder’s Edition releasing today. Yet, let’s go in order. Below you can read an official description of the game.

Welcome to Neighborville, where all is well. Except that a crazy new coniferous conflict between brain-less and botanicals is brewing! What are you gonna do – call the crops? Soil your plants? Prepare to kick some grass in a plant-on-zombie conflict that will take you to the outer edges of Neighborville and back again.

Customize Every Character for Battle

Join the newest bloom in the age-old battle between plants and zombies with 20 fully customizable classes at launch, including a Team Play class for each faction. Bring the unique abilities of each character class to six online multiplayer modes, including the new Battle Arena, and experience the unbeleafable thrills of combat.

Venture to the Outer Edges of Neighborville

The tension across the terra has expanded with three free-roam regions and Ops mode that extend beyond the town of Neighborville. Squad up with up to three friends in the Giddy Park social region and take back Weirding Woods, Mount Steep, and Neighborville Town Centre. It’s grow time!

Play with Your Favorite People, in Every Mode

Join forces with other players to experience split-screen couch co-op* in every mode. Connect with up to three players and battle through flourishing free-roam regions or jump into the fray with up to 24 players in online multiplayer across a gigantic suburban skirmish.

Those who have EA Access and Origin Access will be able to play the final version of the game before release on October 15.

With Origin Access Premier you get the Founder’s Edition on PC.

Speaking of which, the Founder’s Edition launches today for $29.99 (which is a discounted price compared to the final $39.99 tag on October 18), and lets you play an evolving experience that will drop more and more content over six weeks.

Across that period, Founders will get to enjoy 20 fully customizable character classes in one social region, three freeroam regions, Ops mode. and six online multiplayer modes, including Battle Arena.

Split-screen is also included for PS4 and PC in every mode, so you can play with friends and family on the couch.

While modes and features are already final, letting Founders in early will let the development team tweak and refine the details to offer the best possible experience when the game officially launches.

Founders will also get exclusive cosmetic items when logging during the first four weeks, including the Fire Defender item set for Snapdragon, the Ultimate Champ Star costume for All-Star Zombie, and the Pea of Valiance costume for Peashooter.

New characters will also be available, including the rocker Electric Slide, the starbase pilot Space Cadet Zombie, and the Rambo-like bow-wielding 80s Action Hero for the Zombies.

The plants faction will get the adorable ninja Night Cap, Acorn (that can transform into a hulking oak that can also carry other acorn like turrets) and the self-explanatory Snapdragon.
