Nintendo Announces 2DS With New Super Mario Bros. 2 Pre-Installed

Early this morning, Nintendo of America announced that it would be launching multiple new 2DS units. Notably, the company’s Electric Blue 2DS systems will now include a copy of New Super Mario Bros. 2 pre-installed. Upon further investigation it is apparent that this game will also be available on 2DS units with a white finish. Another pre-installed bundle you’ll soon be able to pick up includes Mario Kart 7.

Some believe this could be a sign that Nintendo is winding down the 3DS/2DS platform and will continue announcing new bundled content with incentives such as these. Other users have complained that this bundle will only be available on a standard 2DS and not the more recent 2DS XL. Most users, however, agree that these are good titles to include on the cost-effective device and may serve as a strong entry point to those who have yet to enter the platform.

These new units will retail for $79.99. Nintendo has not confirmed a release date for the units, only stating that they will be available at some point this summer.
