GameStop Isn’t Accepting Pre-Orders for the NES Classic

Via their official twitter account, GameStop has announced that the retailer “will not be taking pre-orders on the NES Classic,” while affirming that the modern re-imagining of Nintendo’s beloved console would be available in GameStop locations on November 11th. GameStop hasn’t shared any details on how or why they arrived at this decision. Whether this is company policy coming straight from Nintendo or it’s a decision retailers are allowed to make individually based on stock and demand is currently unclear.

While GameStop won’t be accepting pre-orders, if you haven’t already somehow secured your NES Classic, GameStop might be your best bet with BestBuy and Target listing the device as coming soon and Amazon saying it’s “Currently unavailable.”

The NES Classic will be available in all stores on November 11th and it will retail for USD $60. Included in the package is the device outfitted with HDMI output (and cable), a single NES Classic controller (additional ones can be purchased for USD $10), and an AC adapter.  Additionally, the device comes pre-installed with 30 games, many of which are widely recognized as classics, like Mega Man 2, The Legend of Zelda, and Super Mario Bros. 3. The device also boasts “Suspend Point” save slots and various display modes, allowing players to play in 4:3 or with a CRT filter if they so choose.
